Green flags and red flags for a Geode download
The first worry with any mod file is a virus. Scan this list before you tap, starting with what a good download looks like.
Green flags
The build matches the device in your hand.A launcher on Android, iPhone and iPad, an installer on Windows and macOS.
Mods open from a button inside the game.No swapping game files by hand: you browse, switch on, and play.
It is Geode, the mod loader made for Geometry Dash. The same loader the community builds its mods for.

Worth a second look
Phone and desktop builds are not the same file.Get the one for the device that runs the game, not the one you are reading on.
One security check comes before the download. It runs once, then the build for your device starts.
Red flags
A file that requests your game account password.Close it. A mod loader has no use for it.
A desktop installer offered to a phone. It will not run there. Pick the phone launcher instead.
Good habits once Geode is in
Two habits that keep a modded game running smoothly.
Do
Take the build picked for the device you play on, then open the mod browser from the game itself.
Don't
Follow an old install guide written for another system and copy files into the game folder by hand.
Do
Switch mods on a few at a time and try a level between each, so you know what each one changed.
Don't
Turn on a whole pile at once, then guess which mod broke the level.
